BORN APRIL 18, 1928, OAKLAND, CA
DIED JUNE 11, 2016, HOUSTON, TX
Jacque’s parents were Herman Arthur Smith and Margaret Edith Smith. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Ralph H. Clemons, Jr., sons Steven Arthur Clemons and Charles Alan Clemons, daughter Linda Elizabeth Clemons, grandchildren Hope Griffith, Michelle Beaty, Jason Beaty, Jeremy Beaty, Christopher Clemons, Kelly Clemons, Martin Nicely, Jacqueline Lord and nineteen great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Jacque and Ralph met at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and married in June 1948. In 1951, they moved to Plymouth Meeting, PA, where they were active in a community theater and involved in numerous productions. In 1956, they relocated to Houston, TX.
Jacque’s interests included being a Cub Scout den mother for several years. She was also Production Manager for a small company called Felt Originals, a position she dearly loved because of the people she worked with. She was especially proud of her membership in the Daughters of the King at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, where Jacque and Ralph worshipped since 1956 and considered it “family.”
At their cabin in Brushy Creek, near Palestine, TX, Jacque and Ralph cleared paths through the wooded property and enjoyed sitting by the creek, observing nature’s wonders.
Most of all, Jacque loved and supported her family. She was always there to help each one through the many trials that life inevitably brings. Her family is her legacy and she will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 1656 Blalock, Houston, TX, at 10:00 AM on Saturday June 18th.
