Jackie Lynn (May) Hoffpauir of Houston, Texas passed away on October 6, 2022. Jackie was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her loving parents Jack and Mary Jane May and her husband of 66 years Charles Kenneth Hoffpauir.
Jackie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 16, 1937. She was the only child to Jack and Jane May. The family settled in Crowley, Louisiana where Jackie attended school and the family became members of the First United Methodist Church.
She met and married Ken Hoffpauir who attended the same church and lived down the street. Ken and Jackie have 4 children. Pam and husband James Wenzel of McAllen, Texas, Joni and husband John Palmer of Cypress, Texas, John David and wife Darla Hoffpauir of Humble, Texas and Jeffery and wife Cheyenne Hoffpauir of Washougal, Washington.
From Jackie and Ken's 4 children came 10 grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Wenzel, Jason and Keri Palmer, David Hoffpauir, Laurin Tallent, and Timothy, Michael, William and Kailey Hoffpauir.
Jackie and Ken's love and tradition continued on from there with 12 great-grandchildren.
Some thoughts of Momma:
She kicked married life off with a bang. Starting with 2 daughters and rounding out with 2 active sons. She was a sunday school teacher, room mother, troop leader and den mother. She was chauffeur to swim lessons, art lessons, piano lessons and dance lessons. She participated in league bowlings, hosted booray poker nights and had neighbors over for coffee or tea. She made lifelong friends that she kept and carried in her heart when we moved to Houston, Texas after Daddy was transferred.
She continued wearing her many hats when we came to Houston and added a few more to the list. We joined Grace United Methodist Church and she became a member of Methodist Women. She started attending Houston Community College which entered her into the workplace. She landed at Liberty Mutual Insurance until her retirement. Once again, Momma started making more lifelong friends from church, and her retired co-workers group that got together once a month to discover new dining adventures and catching up on each other's lives.
She also had wonderful friendships right in her neighborhood. They call themselves the Breakfast Bunch, and all went to breakfast together each week. Even as Momma was getting older and needing a walker her Methodist Women friends, her retired coworkers and Breakfast Bunch friends never stopped including her. They would always pick up her and her walker and continue on. They were always checking on her and making sure she was ok or if she needed anything.
Through all this she raised her 4 children. Took them on family vacations and visiting family. She saw them graduate, get married, and have children of their own. She also brought her mother to live with her after the passing of her father. She cared for her mother who succumbed and passed from Alzheimer's disease.
As time went on she stayed active and involved with her continually growing family. Sharing their Birthdays, Easters, Thanksgivings, Chirstmases, and all the days in between.
Then sadly on October 31, 2021 she had to say goodbye to her husband (Daddy) and partner of 66 years. Her family continued to grow welcoming great grandchild number 11 a little girl (Sophia) born in December 2021 and great grandchild number 12 a little boy (James) born in February 2022.
Momma wore many hats through her life and we learned from them all. We will continue to share what we learned and pass it on to our children who will pass it to theirs while Momma is watching.
She was so much more than what is written. She will remain in our stories and memories which we will keep in our hearts.
Love you Momma.
