He was educated at the University of Maryland.
Jack entered the U.S. Army in 1953 during the Vietnam conflict and rose to the rank of Lt. Col. He served in Europe as Chief of Mapping and Geodedic Studies, U.S. Army, Europe, representing the U.S. with NATO. Jack was Associate U.S. Army Engineer.
He also served for a year with a group study on Life Under the Polar Ice Cap.
Jack retired from the military in 1973 and served as Director of Operations for Industrial Water.
He received an Honorary PhD Doctor of Safeguard Defense.
Jack will forever live in the hearts of family and friends and will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
He was a member of Lakewood United Church. He was a 32 ° Mason and served on multiple charity boards in El Paso. When he ultimately retired, he volunteered for seven years at Methodist Hospital.
Left to cherish his memory, is Jack’s affectionate wife Cecilia Odom Roles, daughters: Jackie Snyder, husband, Chris, Lisa Roles, Debra Yates, husband Fred, and Angel Amos, husband Jim. He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren, Amy Perry, Zane Snyder, Tessa Snyder, Lily Snyder, Christopher Amos, Cameron Amos, Skylar Simmons and Brandon Howell, and his great-grandchildren, Jack Perry, Wade Perry and Faith Amos. Additionally, Jack is survived by his loving sister, Hope Snowden.
