Jack L. Johnson, "Precious", "Pretty Pappy" 76 was born in Darnell, Louisiana in 1935 and was raised in West Monroe, Louisiana and Rayville, Louisiana. He answered his Savior’s call on Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose keen and quick wit, that mixed humor and wisdom, always left those around him feeling better. He was an active member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church and a former coach at East Houston Athletic Club. He was the proud owner and operator of Jack Johnson Upholstery and the business continues through his family today. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Johnson; two sons, Robert Johnson and wife Kerry and Jack Johnson, Jr. and wife Marilyn; two daughters, Linda Parkinson and husband Gard and Karen Elliott and husband Doug; two sisters, Bonnie Edwards and Mickey Maxwell; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie J. Odom and her husband, Randy Odom. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Company. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 2003 West 43rd Street, Houston, TX 77018 with Rev. Cramer Johnson officiating. For those desiring, memorials may be made in Mr. Johnson’s honor to St. Stephens United Methodist Church.
