Jack Teague Hupp passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020 in Sugarland, Texas. Jack was born on November 22, 1935 to Forrest and Clara Hupp in Denworth, Texas. He was raised for the first years of life residing at the Denworth Post Office /General Store. Jack graduated from McLean High School where he was a Golden Glove boxer and a football player. He moved on to play football for Oklahoma A & M, transferred to West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas where he graduated with a business degree, making him the first one in his family to do so. This is also where Jack met Edwina Mae Laycock and only after dating a few months, were married in September 1957 on Friday the 13th and were happily married for 63 years. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Kevin and Scott. Amongst his many accomplishments, Jack retired as a Sr Vice President for Petroleum Information, the largest oil data company in the world. Jack served in the US ARMY Reserve, retiring as a Major. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
Retirement….Not Jack! Always thinking, he decided that he and Ed would start doing craft shows and before you know it, they were traveling all over the state of Texas doing these craft shows in Fred. Jack never stopped, he went on to develop his own invention and was awarded 12 patents, ultimately becoming the “Walkmaker” and is still being sold at most home improvement stores.
Jack is survived by his wife, Edwina, their two sons and wives, Kevin & Patricia Hupp, Scott & Dona Hupp; 5 grandchildren he just adored, Brandon, Angela, Cameron & wife Candace, Kirstie and Austin; 2 great grandchildren Layla & Harrison; his sister and husband, Wanetca & Johnny Reynolds and his brother and wife, Ray & Katy Hupp. To all his children and many more, Jack was a great leader, a mentor, a listener, a gentle giant, the kindest man anyone would ever meet. Jack was a legend!
