Jack R. (Braddy) Hunter, age 80, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010. He was born on Wednesday, January 1, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Jessie Dell (Ricks) & Maurice J. Braddy. Jack’s mother divorced in his early life and then married L.T. Hunter.
Jack was raised and spent the majority of his life in the north side of Houston. He attended Marshall High & Jeff Davis High School where he met and married Jewel, his loving wife of 62 years.
Jack retired after working as a buyer for a grocery wholesaler for over 25 years. He had been an active member of Memorial Masonic Lodge #1298. Jack served as Master of the Lodge in 1972 and 1973. He also served as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District Thirty-D in 1977. He then pursued a career in the Hot-Shot Delivery service for about 20 years which was good to him and his family. After retiring from the delivery service, he worked for a friend to help him get a business started working with computers for 5 years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jewel Hunter of Houston, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Beniretto & husband Jeff of Houston, Texas; son, Lloyd Ted Hunter & wife Mary of Tacoma, Washington; granddaughter, Shannon Rose Hunter of Tacoma, Washington; half brother, Roger Braddy & wife, Beverly of Houston, Texas and good friends like family, Nick Landoski & wife Kathy of Houston, Texas. Jack also had several cousins and many friends.
He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him, he was the best husband and father anyone could have known.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from three o'clock in the afternoon until six o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, December 29th at Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston, where members of the Memorial Masonic Lodge #1298 will provide Masonic honors.
Graveside services will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, December 30th at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend M. Eugene Vickrey officiating.
