Jack Frank Burns, born December 10, 1926 in Houston, Texas passed away July 10, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Olga Marie Goldschmidt Burns and Winfield Frank Burns, his brother Bennett W. Burns and wife Helen, and sister Marie Olga Burns Liverman and husband Mark.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Theresa Adams Burns of 62 years, two children, Janice Lorraine Burns and Caren Alice Burns and partner Richard Woodfin, a nephew Mark Gregory Liverman and wife Wendy Dillenschneider of Florissant Colorado, niece Judy Collins and husband Richard Parker, and great nephews John Paul Collins, Joseph Collins, Jesse Collins and Travis Liverman.
Jack graduated from Rice University with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1949 and a MS in Chemical Engineering in 1951. His attendance at Rice was interrupted when he served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII. Jack worked for Texaco, Inc. for 39 years, rising to the position of Vice President, Texaco USA, Gas Division. Jack was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, TX., American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Tau Beta Pi. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, was an Eagle Scout and was honored with the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed ballroom and line dancing, and gardening was his lifelong hobby. He was a member of the Rose and Camellia Societies. Jack, an engineer, could fix anything!
A memorial service will be held, Friday, July 17 at 10 A.M. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Rd., Houston, 77027, in the Chapel followed by a reception in the Parlor. All friends and family are invited.
