Evangeline Isabel Marquis, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born to parents Jose Guadalupe Mojica and Antonia Caro on June 14, 1943, in Houston, Texas. At the age of 2, she moved to Mexico after her mother passed away and was raised on a dairy farm near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She returned to Houston as an adult and later met her husband, Joel Kenneth Marquis. They were married for 39 years before his passing on February 25, 2011.
Isabel, as she was affectionately known, was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She showed much strength and perseverance when she cared for husband with love and devotion during his years battling cancer. She was called by many names such as Mom, Grandma, Abuela, and Tia to name a few. Everyone was always welcomed in her home. She was a passionate and opinionated person who enjoyed sharing what was on her mind. One of her greatest joys was being in the company of her family and enjoying “something sweet.”
Isabel is survived by her daughter, Gigi Mojica; son, Clyde Marquis, wife Mari; and daughter Jessica Amensen, husband Elmer. Also left to cherish her memory, are her three oldest grandchildren in which she raised as her own; Alex, Priscilla, and Angie Mojica; and three additional grandchildren; Zachary and Mathew Amensen, and Jonathan Marquis. Isabel was also blessed with four great-grandchildren Angelina Mojica, Tony Mojica, Daniel Orihuela, and Jocelyn Mojica.
