Irene Uhyrek Cleboski Gorka was born on October 22, 1922 to Joe and Cecilia Gallia Uhyrek at the family country home near Orchard, TX and passed away on March 4, 2017. At the age of 20 she moved from Wallis, TX to Houston, TX to start her various careers. She worked at McEvoy Company as a machinist during WWII, as a seamstress for Joe Frank Fashion and at home making suits and formals. Before retiring she was employed by Gulf Envelope. She was a member of Christ of King Catholic Community until she moved to nursing care.
Irene was preceded in death by parents, husbands- Vernon James Cleboski Sr and Eli Gorka Sr, son Ronald Eugene Cleboski, brothers-Charlie Uhyrek (Mary), Dennis Uhyrek, Samuel Uhyrek and Jerry Uhyrek, sisters-Elizabeth Beckermann (Fred), Cecilia Tauriello (James) and Rita Trahan (Howard), stepchildren-Dolores Cleboski Peavy (Robert), Vernon James Cleboski Jr and Betty Jean Gaas, grandchildren-David Peavy and Robin Gorka.
Irene is survived by daughter-in-law-Betty Stewart-Cleboski, stepchildren-Eli Gorka Jr and Barbara Gorka, grandchildren-Christopher Cleboski (Lauren), Richard Scroggins (Samantha), Brian Stewart, Cory Gorka, Christie Gorka, Mark Peavy(Cathy) and Lea Ann Hoover(David), brother- Benjamin Uhyrek (Mary Lou), sister-in-laws- Frankie Uhyrek and Mary Gorka, 20 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
