Irene was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on the 16th of July 1919, to Charles and Ethel Schradin.
She was raised in Richmond, Indiana and graduated from Ball State University a Bachelors degree in Art. After moving to Houston, she taught art in the HISD school system. After working for HISD, she then went to work for Houston Central Library for 10 years. Feeling she wanted to advance her skills even more, she went back to college to get her Library of Science degree and later became a Librarian with Sheldon Schools.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ethel Schradin; her husband, Robert C. Coffman; and best friend, Steve Oseychuk. She is survived by her son, Loren Coffman and his wife, Mary E. Coffman; grandson, Brian A. Coffman and wife, Crystal Coffman; and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Olivia Coffman.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 28th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 29th of July, also in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Dr. Linda Christians, Executive Pastor at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, is to officiate.
The entombment will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
