Inez Estelle Ramirez

Inez was born on March 22, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and moved to Houston at an early age. She attended Sam Houston High School where she met her future husband, Philip, who danced and romanced Inez during the big band era. Phil and Inez won many dance contests. Their relationship culminated in marriage in 1941. They were very happily married for over 70 years.

Inez was a beautiful young lady. She was a top model for Foley’s and Battelstein’s department stores. She was also a Rodeo queen. She worked as a food demonstrator for several companies, including International Trading Company for fourteen years, where she started as a demonstrator and moved up to coordinator.

Inez gave freely of her time to service others. She volunteered at Autumn Hills Nursing Home for fourteen years. Each week she visited the residents and said the rosary with them. She also volunteered at The Joseph’s Coat Resale Shop at her church.

Inez was the youngest and only survivor of seven siblings. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Philip, and her son Gary. She is survived by her daughter Landa (Tami) Ciarella, her husband, Joe, and their daughter Shanna; daughter Lynn Nichols, her husband David, and their children Krysta and Austin; other grandchildren, Troy, Tracy and Jason Galow; great grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Addy and Oscar Galow; several nieces and nephews.

Inez was a devoted wife and loving mother who always put her family first. She lived a wonderful, happy life and she thanked God daily for her many blessings. She was greatly loved and she leaves a long legacy of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Friends and family are cordially invited to the visitation on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 1:00 to 2:00 in the chapel of Forest Park Funeral Home at Westheimer and Dairy Ashford. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests with gratitude, memorial contributions be directed in Inez’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
