Humberto Benavides of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022 peacefully at home, at 91 years of age, surrounded by his loving wife.
Humberto was born July 10, 1930 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico to Jose Benavides and Maria Treviño. Humberto met his wife, Trudy Humann Weismer, while he was studying to be a Civil Engineer. They married on August 6, 1952 and he graduated from the University of Nuevo León as a Civil Engineer a year later. His graduation and marriage launched a life-long journey that would include a 20+ year successful engineering career working with various prestigious engineering firms in North America. His career took him and his family away from his hometown of Monterrey which included living in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Mexico City and Houston. However, it was in Houston that Humberto eventually settled in 1976 where he eventually transitioned to become a successful real estate investor and entrepreneur. Humberto started his own business, T&H Assembly and Distributing, in 1983 and continued until he retired in 2005, 22 successful years. While living in Houston, he made lifelong and beloved friends. Humberto was very much a family-oriented person and kept in close contact with his parents, brother, Pepe, and his sister Irma, and all his relatives in Mexico, visiting as often as possible. Humberto is most proud of his wife, large family and his success as an Civil Engineer and Entrepreneur. Humberto enjoyed spending time with wife and children, taking many family vacations over the years and most recently, he took many cruise vacations with his family traveling around the globe.
Humberto was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and his son, Humberto Benavides Jr.
Humberto leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Trudy, his son, Luis and his wife Aidee of Bloomfield, MI, his son, Jose and his wife Terri of Houston, TX, his daughter, Nancy Balderas of Houston, TX, his daughter, Rosa Clay and her husband Bronson of Houston, TX, his son, Tom and his wife Jamie of Houston, TX, his son, Jerry, and his husband Brent of Houston, TX, and 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
