Hugh,
I made it to temples in Nepal and praying for you and all the good memories we have had.

Dearest Hugh's family:  I am a cousin of Hugh - he was about 4 years older than me.  We had an older cousin, Sondra {who enjoyed us!  We would gather at our grandparents' home, overseen by our Aunt Ellender Christina, gathered around the huge dining room table for dinner and listen to those eight brothers and sisters - of which his father and my mother were members - and listened to the stories of the family.
And, of course, there were the communal baths in the old footed tub - which grew to be VERY crowded as other cousins entered the family!
Hugh, as we grew older and more interactive with parents, aunts,and uncles, we played around the Lake, helped clean our family graveyard next to one of grandfather's old churches, heard the story of the willow tree there that was supposedly a branch used to drive horses, that grew up when the branch was stuck in the ground to grow.  I'm sorry that life took us away from family times.  Thank you for being my cousin, childhood playmate, and the service to our country you provided.  God bless you as you live with Him now.  Know that you are loved, not forgotten, and will be shared with my three great grandsons!  Thanks, Cuz!  Ellen Stubblefield Damron - daughter of Martha Lee.

This is a great picture of Hugh Miller at my Mom and Dad’s 91st Birthday, January 2016.  Hugh and my Dad, Jim McPhee had so much in common when it came to books.  Anything having to do with WWII, Tom Clancy and so much more.  Hugh, Mom, Dad and myself, Lynnie McPhee Gustafson would sometimes stay up until 2:30 AM after dinner and chatting, solving world problems.  
Hugh, you’ve been in my life for 36 wonderful years, I’m going to miss you every day.  💙🙏💙

This is from Hugh’s friend Lynnie and we were going out for Christmas dinner with Dad and Mom, Elaine and Jim McPhee.  Mom loved frogs 🐸 and this was Hugh’s Christmas present to Mom
We ALWAYS had a wonderful time with Hugh.  Some nights we stayed up until 2:30 AM talking.  Hugh is definitely one of the kindest sensitive people I’ve ever met.  Our 36 year friendship was so special.

I’ll miss you forever Hugh 🙏💙🙏💙

Hugh Miller was my uncle and I his firstborn niece. My mother was his sister and he loved her and me and my siblings dearly. Growing up he was Uncle Bud, a nickname he had from high school. As he got older, and we got older, he preferred Uncle Hugh, but at dinner with him many years ago when my husband and I lived in Houston I told him I just couldn’t call him that and he said it was OK for me to call him uncle Bud. We didn’t see each other much once I was grown, and I have always felt that there was too much sorrow and loss in too short a  period of time. His mother, my grandmother died in 1971 and his sister, my mother,  died in 1979.  I think my siblings and I were too much of a reminder of a period of sadness in his life. So I didn’t see him much as we both grew and matured – there was only 12 years difference between us - But he was my uncle and though we didn’t see each other or have much contact in these past years I loved him dearly.  I’m happy to know he found a family without so many painful memories that He could  love and loved him back.  I’ll miss you Uncle Bud.

Amazing Grace was just beautiful in every detail and Hugh loved that boat so much 

Hugh Miller was a man of dignity, kindness and he had a love of boats.  This is Hugh showing me around his new yacht, “Amazing Grace”.  He took such pride in his yacht 🛥️. Unfortunately, I never got to go out on Amazing Grace, except for a tour.

I’ve known Hugh Miller for 36 years, and truly have never met anyone as nice, kind, funny, and truly the best dressed man I’ve ever met.  Hugh became a member of my family, Hugh and my Dad, Jim McPhee, became fast friends, same with my Mom, Elaine, along with my nieces.  Hugh and Dad shared a passion for WWII and mystery novels, and exchanged books all the time.  Hugh was a big part of my life and as I said for 36 years.  The 4 of us (my parents) went out to dinner a lot.  I’m going to miss you, Hugh.  I’ll see you on the other side, until then, please enjoy and watch over me 🙏💙 and enjoy my parents 

I had the honor of working with Hugh for more than 20 years.
Nothing but class.
An absolute delight to know.
I truly admired and respected him.

I worked with Hugh at two different engineering firms and he was such a delight to work for and with.  My deepest sympathies to the family as I am sure he will be missed.
