Horace Lamar “Junior” Jones of Humble, Texas passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on July 5, 2016. He was 85 years old. He was born on May 28, 1931 in Thicket, Texas to Logan Lamar Jones and Addie Olivia Swearingen. He was given the nickname “Junior” at a young age. “Junior” married the love of his life Johnnie Faye Bumstead on Dec 21, 1951 in Houston, Texas. They were married 65 years and had 5 children.
Horace served our country in the U.S Army during the Korean War. After his time in Korea he became a factory worker and worked in many places to provide for his family. “Junior” was a longtime faithful member of Houston Revival Temple Church where he served in many areas. He was a family man and loved being around his family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his son Billy Jones, son Marty Jones, brothers J.L. Jones and Billy Joe Judkins. He is survived by his wife Johnnie Faye, sister Nora Douzar, sister Edna Sanford, son Michael Jones, daughter and son-in-law Rick and Caroline Doyle, daughter Mary Lamas and honorary family member Jake Yancey. Grandchildren: Cathy and Dustin Burcham, Amy Doyle, Rebekah Lamas and James Sullivan, Kelli Lamas and Bryon McDaniel and David Lamas II. Great-Grandchildren: Dakota Wheeler, Preslee Sullivan, and Kaycie McDaniel and numerous family and friends.
The family would like to thank his nurse Wanda Simons and the staff of LifePointe Hospice care for their great care to Horace. Visitation will be on Friday from 5pm - 8pm at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2pm with graveside immediately following.
