February 2nd, 1932 - January 28th, 2018
Homer Thomas "Tom" Daniel, 85, of Houston, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 28th, 2018 at Tomball Regional Hospital. Tommy, as he was known to his friends growing up, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 2nd, 1932. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School where he was a Safety on the high school football team and enjoyed many days in the field hunting small game.
Tom was married to Pearla Fay Daniel (Key) for 40 years and worked and retired from a career as a Purchasing Agent for Southern Industrial Steel Co. in Houston, Texas. Later starting and managing SanDan Fabricators before his 2nd retirement.
Beginning April 12th, 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy and fought during the Korean War on the USS Erben (DD-631) later being honorably discharged April 12th, 1955. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Later in life he joined the American Legion Post #0594 and VFW Post #8790 holding his membership for over 15 years. He had a passion for football, OU Sooners, and supporting Little League Baseball - holding a Board Member position as a player representative.
His passing is preceded by his parents, Everette Daniel and Mary Claypool Daniel, sister Betty Posey, and brothers J.F. Daniel and William Daniel. Grandsons John Conley and Jacob Felts.
Survivors include his wife, Pearla Fay Daniel (Key) of 40 years, sister Allene Marker of Dickinson, N. Dakota, and brother Jerry Daniel of Hurst, Texas. Children include Randy Daniel of Plano, Texas; Gregg Daniel of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Kamie Bolding of Haskell, Oklahoma; Jennifer Griffin of Ward, Arkansas. Step-Children include Ron Conley of Bonus, Texas; Kim Barker of Houston, Texas, John Corkren of Katy, Texas; Tammy Jaquet of Tomball, Texas; Robert Corkren of Katy, Texas. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 on February 2nd, 2018 from 10:00 AM – noon. After such time burial services will commence at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 at 1:00 PM.
Directly following burial services, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering with food and refreshments at the Daniel home at 3706 SpringMeadows St., Houston, Texas 77080.
