In Loving Memory of Herminia (Fuentes) Rodriguez, age 95, and more affectionately known by her great grandchildren as GG passed away at Ascension Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas on October 8, 2019. GG is preceded in death by her husband Agapito T. Rodriguez, daughter Evangelina Rios and son Roberto Rodriguez. She is survived by her 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren: Willie Rios III & Spouse Annie and great grandchildren Willie IV and Allie; Tim Rios & Spouse Patricia and great grandchildren Jude, Leah and Camille; Sonya Rodriguez & Spouse Ernie and great grandchildren Colby, Austin and Miranda; and Melissa Rios and great grandchildren Leonel Jr., Christian, and Eric Munoz. She is also survived by her son in law Willie T. Rios Jr. and lone surviving sibling, Linda Fuentes.
GG was born in Converse, Texas on January 6, 1924 to Emilio and Maximina Fuentes and lived in Houston for most of her life along with her 8 siblings (Frederico, Emilio, Lupe, Arturo, Alfredo, Linda, Frank and Alicia). GG married her loving spouse Agapito and lived most of their adult lives raising their family in the East End side of Houston, Texas, better known as Magnolia.
GG was a dedicated and hard worker in all aspects of her life. She had a love for gardening and made sure her home was always beautiful. She also worked at both the University of St. Thomas and Pasadena Independent School District in various capacities.
In October of 2014 GG moved to Inez, Texas and lived with her daughter and son-in-law . GG’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and sharing her joy for cooking. She enjoyed providing her family with delicious meals made with her special touch and lots of love. She was well known by her family and extended family for her famous tamales and various other Mexican cuisine.
GG enjoyed helping her family and providing a helping hand whenever possible. She graciously cared for her siblings when in time of need and looking after both her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her influence and love is imprinted in her family and her memory will carry on for years to come.
May she rest in peace and know that she is loved by her family. Her impact in all of our lives will live on forever. May God watch over GG and know that we will always miss and love her.
