Herman Lucio Coronado a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022. Herman was born on February 27, 1929, to Natividad and Dorothy (Harter) Coronado in Detroit, Michigan. One of his favorite childhood memories was spending time on his grandparents’ farm with his brother Donald. He met the love of his life and married Rosalia Lopez on April 15, 1950, in Nuevo Laredo. In 1955, he moved his family to Houston, Texas in search of a better life. They were married for 72 years. They raised two sons and two daughters. His most important accomplishment was raising his family and ensuring his daughters attended college so they could have the best opportunities.
Herman attended the University of Pennsylvania and St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. He worked for Strachan Shipping Company for over 30 years. He later started a very successful business on his own and named it after his mother, Harter International Services. He loved helping others and starting his own business gave him the flexibility to spend more time with his family.
Herman will be remembered for being a great storyteller, loved being outdoors and grilling for family and friends, passion for reading, and for his kind heart. He loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Herman is survived by his brother, Federico (Lupina) Coronado, sister, Celia (Luis) Ortuzar, son Herman Jr. (Jane) Coronado, son Ricardo (Gayle) Coronado. Daughters Teresa Coronado and Elsa (Bill) Jackson. Cherished grandchildren Vincent Rich, Carmen (Eddie) Albertson, Erica (David) Amaya, Ryan (Stacy) Jackson, and Tyler Jackson. Great grandchildren, Parker, Peyton, Presley, and Aiden.
We are comforted in knowing he is with Rosa again. They will be forever in our hearts. Until we meet again.
