I will never forget the way you danced at the Addy’s wedding. Your strength was an inspiration for so many including myself. I will never forget what a wonderful father-in-law you were to me. We celebrate your life and knowing that you are now young, strong and happy once more. Love you Pop forever.🙌🏽

To Herman’s family .. we met in 1968-1969 at SWTSU.. Herman was loved by everyone he met.. It saddens me to know that for his last years on earth , he lived with limitations , but in the end , his eternal life with the Lord is what really matters . We know where he is, and that gives us peace !

I met Herman in 2001 when I worked at DRO in Austin.  He was a kind, soft spoken, full of wisdom to share person.  I remember visiting him when he couldn't work full time anymore.  He reminded me so much of my own father and when I moved my dad to Texas, I so wanted them to meet each other.  I pray for your rest and comfort for your daughters.  They don't make father's like him anymore!  

I met Herman when I worked at Southside Community Center in San Marcos.  He volunteered to help with the Candy Sale Fundraiser.  In turn, the Center made posters for him when he ran for a city position.  I last saw Herman at an African American Alumni gathering to plan a Southwest Texas State homecomeing event. I am cloudy about the circumstances but I think he coached the Girl's Basketball team at Gary Job Corps for a time.  Pick a year and you'll find a meaningful activity conncerning Mr. Herman Caviel.

We were a small group of Blacks on SWT’s campus during the late 60’s and early 70’s, but we were a force to be reckon with. We grew up together  and took care of each other. Over the years we would gather and see each other whenever  we could. This  gathering was in San Marcos at our house in 2009.  Know that if we weren’t all there, we were thinking of him and his family. We loved Herman. May the Lord bless and keep you all.

My condolences to the Caviel family. My prayers are with you at this time in your lives. 

I was a young man who just graduated from college when I met Herman in Austin, Texas.  He would share his time, experiences, knowledge, wisdom, and love with many of the young men at our church.  I could always count on Herman to provide Godly wisdom and sound advice!  Herman was a positive role model, and an excellent mentor and friend.

My heart is sad that I won’t see you again in this life, but my heart rejoices that you are present with the Lord and in a better place!

Our condolences on behalf of the E.A. Greer Alumni  Association  of El Campo, Texas. I met Herman in 1966 when the Pink and 
Greer schools merged.  Herman was a great person at a very young age, and a friend to all.   We often wondered and asked about him since we all graduated and went our own way.  Good to see he had a great life and family!  Our prayers to the family.

Herman was the Best Youth Pastor ever.   He was passionate about the young people and set a great example as a role model. 
One night, after watching a film on the Rapture, I was afraid.  My friend and I called him up to explain the Rapture and shared our fears. He explained that being Raptured up by Jesus is a great thing.  He talked to us until the fear went away. 
My friend and I felt better and I was able to sleep.  
He was an excellent father to his daughters.   He will be missed.  
The very last time I saw him which had been many years ago, I was able to tell him as such.   
Thank you Herman Caviel, for being our example of a Godly man.
