Henry “Sonny” Williams of Houston, Tx passed on October the 20, 2021 at the age of 83. He was born on December 14,1937 in Madison Park, Alabama. He grew up in a small town, and appreciated the simple days of a family friendly environment. Early in life he learned the value of hard work from his parents by helping to maintain the family land, and took pride in helping to raise their animals. The "windy" city of Chicago was his home for many years after moving from Madison Park, and the place where several of his children were born. He learned to appreciate the big city, and made a good life for his family while remaining country at heart. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Jean Williams, and mother to their 10 children. They met at very young age, and it was "love at first sight", and the rest as they say was history. Their love story was timeless and spanned the course of more than 65 years. No one will miss him as much as his beloved "Mary", she was and always will be his heart.
He worked in many different trades primarily as an small business owner, construction foreman and skilled mechanic, and master craftsman. A true jack of all trades, he loved working with his hands and seeing his creations create joy for others especially his "Beautiful" wife Mary. He loved to fish, and took any opportunity to be on the water fishing with his family and joined his friends on many deep water fishing trips. Also as a child and young adult he could be found on the local baseball field, and was given the nickname "Country" playing the position of left field. He enjoyed cooking good food with his wife, and growing their own fruits and vegetables. His zeal for life rivaled his "big appetite" for a homecooked meal, especially when Mary was doing the cooking in the kitchen. They shared a love of all things antique, and spent many hours collecting rare treasures and visiting local antique shops in their spare time.
He was a big family man at heart, and enjoyed spending time with his large family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Through out his life he worked hard to make sure his family was well taken care of daily. He always took the time to play a game of softball with his children, and loved being their "Dad". You could always find him with a smile, and warm hugs for his family and friends. He went out of his way to enrich the lives of everyone he knew, and never met a stranger.
Henry also loved to dance, and listen to the oldies like Johnny Taylor, Sam Cook, BB King, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, and many more. He and his wife Mary danced the night away to all their favorite old school classics. They especially enjoyed listening to some good country music and always took advantage of any opportunity to two step.
Henry dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1970, and was actively involved in helping people come to know the good news about God’s Kingdom through a worldwide preaching work. His strong belief in the Bible's promises that God will wipe out all the problems and suffering in the world motivated him to share that hope with others, especially his family and friends. He always loved and looked forward to attending the Christian meetings, and had the privilege to serve as a Ministerial Servant in his congregation while living in Chicago. He believed in Jehovah with his whole heart and trusted in his promise of a resurrection to paradise here on earth, where he will be reunited with all his love ones in perfect conditions. As a faithful servant of Jehovah, he upheld his Christian dedication and beliefs till death.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, John Henry and Calie Williams and siblings Orlean “Big Sister” Johnson, John Henry “Jim” Williams, Mary-Lou Fuller, Posey Woods, and Willie Williams. Also, his sweet grandchildren Trey Williams, Ashley Jean Davis, and Terri Ja'nee Daniels.
Henry lived a rich and full life, and is survived by his loving children Vera Jean Perez ( Zac), David Earl Williams (Barbara), Angela Regina Williams, Henry Terry Williams (Daidra), Jeffery Williams (Paula), Pastoria Sheila Qualls (Sheldon), Myran Williams, Irish Calie Davis (Dennis), Aaron Hosea Williams (Yolanda) and Natasha Unice Moffett (Eric). In addition to 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren who loved their "Big Daddy".
We will love and miss our father " Pop" until we can see him again in the new world!
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who knew and loved him.
Your love and support are greatly appreciated.
