Henry Lee Walker was born March 15, 1927 to the late Reverend Charlie and Mattie Walker in Alamo, Georgia. He professed Christ at an early age. Later he became an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Saint Albans, New York. He worshipped there for over 50 years until he moved to Cypress, Texas in 2011. Henry served several terms as vice president on the church council, worked with the food bank and competed on the church bowling team. Henry served his country in the United States Marine Corp and honorably discharged July 29, 1946 with the rank of corporal. Henry met the love of his life, Barbara Pauline Teeter in Harlem, New York. They were married June 23, 1951. To this union one child was born, Garret Albert Walker (Chuck). Henry attended Roberts Technical and Trade School of New York. He satisfactorily completed the course of training in autobody repair and refinishing January 14, 1952. Later he owned and operated “Henry Walker Autobody” in Jamaica Queens, New York for over 30 years. Henry and Barbara enjoyed traveling with friends and family after retirement. He was very active in the local community vegetable garden. He continued to use his gardening skills after moving to Cypress, Texas. Henry’s extraordinary wisdom and love for the young and old will be deeply missed. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara and 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Henry leaves to cherish his memory, devoted son, Garret (Chuck), daughter-in-law, Emma, brothers: Jimmie of Miami, Florida, Lonnie ( Amanda) of Winter Park, Florida and Jellont (Rachelle) of Albany, Georgia; grandsons, Greg Cummings and Troy Winston, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
