My heart is broken with hearing of the loss of a wonderful uncle.  I remember as a young girl Uncle Henry taking me and my sister to Woodland Park after Easter dinner at my grandmother's house.  We would be dressed in our Easter dresses and fancy patent leather shoes.  He would take us to the park and hide our Easter eggs.  

I also remember when the city was working on I45 and had mounds of dirt stacked along the proposed extension of the freeway.  Uncle Henry would get large cardboard box pieces and he would sit us on the cardboard and he would sit behind us and we would go sliding down the dirt, what a fun time for two little girls.  He would take us down so many times that our lace socks and pretty shoes would get dirty.  Before heading back to grandma's house, he would find the water fountain in the park and wash our shoes off so grandma would not be mad at him.  He always made time to have fun with me and my sister at Easter and Christmas.  He always made me feel special. 

I always thought he was so handsome and athletic.  I remember him walking on his hands.  He built me a pair of stilts and taught me how to walk on them.  What wonderful memories I have in my heart of this wonderful man.

At Christmas he would buy my sister and I gifts.  One year he gave me a gold heart lock.  Another time he gave me a St. Christopher.  I still have these two pieces of jewelry and will cherish them always.

When my father passed way in November of 2010, I remember fondly talking to Uncle Henry and asked if the remembered the Jo Jo the Clown doll he gave me one Christmas.  Believe it not, I still have it.  It sits on a table in my sewing studio.  Needless to say, Jo Jo  is somewhat tattered due to his age. I will never part with him because he is a reminder of my special Uncle Henry.   

I know that Uncle Henry is in Heaven with Grandma, Grandpa, my father Fred, Aunt Margaret, Uncle Daniel and Uncle Robert.  It gives me comfort in knowing they are all together.

I just learned about Henry's passing. My heart breaks for his lovely wife and family. Henry was my neighbor for the past 12 years and I will always remember his gentle spirit and kind words. He was thoughtful and caring and watched over my home and me. He . will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
