Allen was born in Laurel Mississippi to Bennie Blackwell and Vesta Mae Walters Blackwell. Allen served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Rainier, a naval ammunition supply ship during WWII. He was very proud of his service to our country and talked frequently to his family and friends about his experiences during the war.
Allen was married to the late Glenda Clifton Blackwell on November 1st 1977. He loved her deeply and was her caregiver until her death in 2008.
Allen retired as a Longshoreman from Maritime ILA Local 24 and enjoyed his retirement in the country. Allen loved fishing, particularly trot line fishing with his youngest daughter Amber, hunting, spending time outdoors on his property, and reading his Bible.
Allen is proceeded in death by his loving wife Glenda and his brothers Turner and Daniel Blackwell and half brother, Charles Morgan. He is survived by his daughters Amber(Jake) Wittnebert of Tomball and Elizabeth “Beth” (Michael) Gamble of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew Wittnebert, Kaelyn Wittnebert, Ashlyn Wittnebert, and Xander Wittnebert of Tomball and Ashley Dalhart(Cooper) of Fayetteville.
Allen lived a very blessed and full live. He would frequently tell people that his Faith and love of the Lord is what got him through this journey of life. He will be missed by many and will live in our hearts forever.
