Helen Byrn Wauson

Helen was born on September 4, 1925 in Memphis, Tennessee to parents Edward and Annie Byrn. She graduated from Edison High School in San Antonio and Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans. An active member of South Main Baptist Church since 1953 where she met her husband and formed many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Smith and her husband, Joe; son-in-law, John Davis; grandchildren, Kyle York and his wife Erin, Cody Davis, and Baily Davis; and great granddaughter, Alison York. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Merle Wauson; her daughter Sandra; her sister, Jo Glass; and her parents Edward and Annie Byrn.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until noon, Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel there at 12:30 P.M. with Pastor Greg Funderburk officiating.
