Helen Gullo, was 93 years of age when she passed away in her sleep peacefully on Sunday, the 11th of August 2024, at her home at the Buckingham Retirement Facility. Helen was born in 1931 in Houston to Milber Davis and Mamie Murphy Davis but soon thereafter moved to Willis, Texas.
Helen’s family moved back to Houston to the Heights where Helen attended John H. Reagan High School. While attending high school, Helen met the love of her life, Charlie Gullo, who she married on the 5th of September 1949, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston. They resided in the Heights until they moved to Spring Branch in 1959 where they called home for the next 47 years. They have four children: Charlsie, Vincent, Christopher, and Paul. Helen and Charlie were devout Catholics becoming charter parishioners at St. Theresa Catholic Church and attended regularly until they moved to Spring Branch and became parishioners at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Helen’s primary focus was her Faith and Family. She was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; always putting the needs of others before her own, especially in driving her children around non-stop to school and sporting events. Helen was an incredible cook in the kitchen making delicious dishes whether it was the perfectly round pancakes or cornbread and coffee in the morning to fried chicken, stuffed bell peppers or her amazing lasagna for dinner. However, the best of all was her Blackberry Cobbler made in a pot and her Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie, both her parents, Milbur and Mamie, her brothers Joe and Hershell, and daughter-in-law Charlotte. Helen is survived by her daughter Charlsie and husband Darrell Prevost, her sons Vincent, Christopher and wife Rhonda, Paul and wife Lisa; grandchildren Brian Prevost and wife Shea, Marla Smith and husband Jason, Natalie Large, Angela Gullo, Kristen Foradas and husband Pete, Lacey Gullo, Alyssa Hensley and husband Jeff, Morgan Gullo; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Buckingham Retirement Facility who made Helen’s life special every day.

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness; Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all; Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised; Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:27-31
