Helen I. Gomez, born on November 22, 1953, went to be with her heavenly father on September 11, 2013. Her unwavering faith in God, love and prayers from friends and family helped carry her peacefully into the loving arms of God after ending a valiant fight to multiple health issues. She was born to parents Mateo and Telesfora Estrada in Temple, Texas. She was the youngest of four siblings-deceased bother Augustine Valdez, survived by her brother Edward Estrada (sister-in-law Olivia Cantu) and sister Lucia Esther Martinez. She is also survived by her dear daughters Mina Valencia and Carolyn Gomez (son-in-law Gustavo Garcia), four dearly loved grandchildren, Jacqueline, Meagan, Nathan and Giada along with numerous nieces, nephews, loving family and dear friends. Possessing the true heart of a servant Helen cared and touched the lives of her family and friends through her delicious cooking, drawing and other talents. She loved the church and served in many areas. She was a teacher and student of God’s word. Her words of encouragement, constant smiles, optimistic outlook and joking ways will never be forgotten. A woman of faith and loving heart, Helen shaped the spiritually all those who came to know her. Her presence was a powerful inspiration and her memory also.
