Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Stepan and Katie Chupik; brothers Bob, Charlie, Steve and Adolph Chupik; sisters, Mary Pace, Millie Pace and Georgia Gillis; and daughter, Susan Alicia Couch.
She is survived by her sister Lydia Waters; sons, Steve, Bruce and Mark, and his wife Melissa Couch; granddaughter, Heather Hamilton; and great grandson, Riley; and grandson, David Allen Couch; along with numerous relatives and friends.
Helen’s parents immigrated to Texas from Czechoslovakia, eventually settling in Ross, Texas, where Helen was born on the 21st of April 1931. She grew up and attended school in the little Czech town of West.
After graduating from high school she attended Business College where she gained the skills and knowledge that she applied in her career in the medical field as a transcriptionist. She worked many jobs throughout her career, and retired from the Veteran’s Administration in 1993, after a long and storied career. Helen continued to work as a transcriptionist from her home until her second retirement at the age of 75.
She was a long time member of the AMT (American Medical Transcriptionists), which included a two-year run as its president. She was a member of Willow Meadows Baptist Church.
Helen could usually be found in her backyard working on her Koi pond and all of her gardens and plants. When she wasn’t gardening, you could find her in her favorite chair reading up on current events or the latest mystery novel.
Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
