Helen was born in Coby, Kansas November 28, 1923 to the parents of George Albert Carney and Anna Elizabeth Grohowsky. Her brother, 4 years older, Ralph Carney has proceeded her in death, Helen was her daddy’s pride and joy. She loved her pop very much. Helen and Ralph were very close and she had fond memories of their youth.
On January 28, 1946 Helen and Eugene (Doc) Agustus Shine were married. They had five children. All of the children are living. They are: Clara Thate who resides in Grand Prairie, Texas; Gene and Donald Shine who reside in Houston, Texas; Margie Waters who resides in Navasota, Texas; and Ramona Lisa Cravey who resides in Manville, Texas.
There are fourteen biological grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and many other extended family members.
