Helen had two sisters Laura Leona Lewis, and Carol Adele Courtade and a special cousin Lillian Morgan Blackburn who lived with the Sarvers. Helen married Guy Mosby Brown November 11, 1937 and had two children Bunny and Bonnie. She worked as an executive secretary most of her life until she retired from ARCO. She and Guy enjoyed traveling around the U.S. before World War II and after they retired. Helen was active in First United Methodist Church in Houston until she moved to Clarewood House in 1992 and attended the Chapel services at Clarewood every Sunday. She enjoyed dancing (Guy & Helen met at Abel’s School of Dancing and both taught dancing there) bridge and a variety of other card games, raised and showed championship Chow-Chow dogs and raised two successful daughters. Helen always had a big smile and a pleasant word for everyone even as she aged and had difficulty seeing and hearing.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Guy Brown, her parents, Claude and Beatrice Sarver, her sister Carol Courtade, her cousin Lillian Blackburn, and son-in-law David Reed Starr
Helen is survived by a loving family including her two daughters Helen Ruth Sadler (Bunny) and husband Timothy of Hallettsville, TX and Bonnie Guylene Brown of Houston, grandson Christopher Brown Starr of Houston, sister Laura Leona Lewis of Lubbock, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
