Hedy Agnes Mokry Reininger was born Nov. 22, 1924 in Granger, Texas She was the second of 4 children (sisters Minnie, Agnes, Evelyn) to Charles and Hettie Mokry. After graduating from Granger High School in 1942 at age 16 she moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. After 2 years of college, with a great teacher shortage she decided to help and taught in Wallis, TX and Salado, TX, in 1947 she went to the university where she was administer of a girls boarding house which was of great help with school.
She graduated from the University in 1949 with a bachelor of fine arts. After graduating she went to teach in New Braunfels, TX where she met her husband, Randy Reininger whom she married in 1950. They moved to Houston where she accepted a position in Galena Park for 31 years.
Hedy served as the president of K.J.L.T. for 2 years, helped the homeless in many ways, and received a special award from helping boy scouts.
She is survived by her children Logan and Rollyn, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Hedy will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A rosary and funeral service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Epiphany of the Lord, 1530 Norwalk Dr, Katy, TX 77450. A committal service will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
