Heather was the child of military parents and lived in many locations throughout the United States as well as in South Korea on two occasions. She attended school in Copperas Cove, TX, Ft. Rucker, AL (twice), Saint Cloud, MN, Ft. Knox, KY, Seoul Korea, Montgomery, AL, and Ft. Leavenworth, KS. After graduating from high school in Kansas, she attended Stephen F. Austin University for one year before attending Troy University in Troy, AL., where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1993. Heather was an active member of the Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, she moved to College Station, TX, where she was employed by the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center and then by Texas A&M University.
Heather relocated to Houston where she was employed by Vallen Corporation, EGC Corporation, Willbros Corporation, and Emerson Corporation. She traveled extensively with each of these companies conducting trade shows and promotional events.
Heather was a people person who cared about her family, friends, and pets. She maintained life-long friendships with people from all over, both in her personal and professional lives. Heather loved to dance growing up and practiced both tap and ballet for several years. She also held a special place in her heart for animals but maintained an intense love for Dachshunds and Great Danes.
Heather is survived by her husband, Danny; son, Alexander; stepson, Aidan; and her Great Dane, Goose. She is also survived by her parents, Don and Nancy Cumbie; as well as numerous other family members, friends and close acquaintances.
A celebration of Heather’s life will be held at the Heights Funeral Home in Houston, TX, on Friday June 9, 2023, at 1 pm. A reception will be held immediately following the celebration service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Heather’s memory.
