He leaves his wife, Pauline Riebel; his sister Karol M. Smith; Michelle Bankard, his daughter and her husband Michael, his son Harvey Riebel, III; Kayla Teel, his granddaughter; Dylan Riebel his grandson, and two great grandchildren Kylie and Forrest, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Lottie Wooley and Harvey Lewis Riebel, and two sisters Aileen Hempker and Ruth Ann Toms precede Harvey in death.
Harvey or “Junior” as he was known, was born on October 20, 1940 in Lakeview, Ohio. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as Maintenance Chief for the NIKE Air Defense Missile System. Harvey’s duty assignments included stations in both the U.S. and Europe as part of the NATO Alliance.
Having received an honorable discharge after 21 years of service to his country, Harvey took to the warmer climates of Texas and became a Security Officer at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Livingston, Texas.
Upon his retirement, Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family and took an interest in horticulture and motorcycling.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 11:30 followed by the service at 12:30 p.m. at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas. Mr. Riebel will be laid to rest at the U.S. Houston National Cemetery.
