Harry Frank Lavish went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2011 at the age of 92. He was born October 27, 1918 in Braddock, Pennsylvania to Frank and Margaret Lavish. He resided in Houston, Texas for 46 years after moving from Long Island, New York.
He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Dennis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elizabeth; Daughter, Alice Dawson and husband Scott of Richmond, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Dawson and wife Leigh Ann and Elizabeth Elliott and husband Thomas; four great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Rhodes of Vidalia, Georgia; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Lavish of Anchorage, Alaska.
Harry enlisted in the Air corp. in 1942 serving as a B-24 and C-54 pilot and instructor where he flew the “Hump” from India to China and obtained the rank of 1st Lieutenant and was honorably discharged in 1947. He began his career with Union Carbide (Profax) in 1938 and retired in 1979 with Texas Eastern.
Harry enjoyed flying, boating and was very mechanically inclined. He was a member of the Texas Eastern Retirees’ Club and the Money Makers’ Investment Club. He attended Christ Memorial Lutheran Church.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77079. A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., with a viewing scheduled at 1:00 p.m., at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 14200 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77079. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
