Harry Cummings Kirsch, JR, 90, of Houston died peacefully the morning of December 20 at his home with his loving wife of 70 years Syble at his side. Harry was born November 12, 1933, in Houston. His parents were Harry Cummings Kirsch, SR and Grace Theresa Tappen. He attended Jeff Davis High School and graduated in 1952.
Harry married Syble Fae Hall on January 30, 1954. He met Syble at Southwestern Bell where he was a dedicated employee for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the AT&T Pioneers, the largest group of industry-specific employees and retirees dedicated to community service. Beyond his dedicated service to his company, Harry was a devoted husband and proud father of his 5 children. He was a passionate woodworker, making countless pieces of furniture and he could fix practically anything. Harry loved camping and he looked forward every year to taking his family to the Frio River, a memory the entire family cherishes and continues today. In addition to their annual camping trip, Harry loved traveling to San Antonio, Wurstfest in New Braunfels and adventures to Mexico. He will be missed by his entire family and his cats Paisley, Ella, and Luna.
Harry served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and will be buried with military honors.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, brother George as well as his daughter Theresa Kirsch Bowser. He is survived by his wife Syble, children Stanley (Jolene), David (Nancy), Loretta (Miles) all of Houston and Tracy (Connie) of North Carolina, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and sister Norma.
A visitation for Harry will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Friday, December 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Kirsch, Brooks Bowser, Brandon Bowser, Patrick Pratt, Ty Kirsch, Garrett Kirsch. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Daron Kirsch and Adam Kirsch.
