Harold Christian Block

HAROLD CHRISTIAN BLOCK died peacefully at home May 20, 2015. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Caughey Block, his brother John Block and son-in-law, James Shepherd. He is survived by his daughters, Karen VanSlyke and husband Paul, Lauri Block and husband Jeff Harrold, and Sandra Shepherd; his grandchildren Thomas Gardner, Lauren Bacak and husband Cullin, Charles Shepherd, and David VanSlyke. Born in Houston, Harold spent his childhood in Seattle, WA. He attended the University of Houston, was a member of the Cavaliers, met Charlotte Caughey and married on November 22, 1953. Harold began his oil & gas career at F. A. Callery, then as VP of Land at Forman Petroleum for over 20 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of Lakeside Country Club for more than 50 years. Harold was also a member of the HGO Guild and Chapelwood UMC. Harold had a wonderful sense of humor, a giving heart and a strong sense of devotion to his family. A memorial service will be held at Chapelwood UMC, 11140 Greenbay, in the chapel on Tuesday, May 26th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston Area Parkinson Society or the Chapelwood Foundation.
