Harding Ben Wong was born to Ben and Susie Wong in Rosedale, Mississippi January 28, 1922. Married to Peggy Wong (deceased) for 65 years; survived by eldest son Glenn with wife Judy and grandson Scott with wife Mary and great grandson Dylan and great granddaughter Jordan; second son Kirk with wife Aurora and grandson Ryan along with granddaughter Kelly; Sisters Helen Chong, Hollie Young, Toannie Lee and Susie Gee; Brothers Alex Wong and Billy Wong; There is a whole host of in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews too numerous to mention.
The Lord took him October 24, 2011 in the morning due to health issues.
Harding and his wife Peggy went into the grocery business “Wong Food Market” in the late 1940’s and have been retired for over 22 years. While some of the early Chinese immigrants that settled in Houston and were active in the CACA and the On Leong Association.
Harding was a very quiet and calm individual that when he did speak, he really had something to say. He was known and is stilled called “Mr. Hardy”. If you were hungry and thirsty he would give you a sandwich and a drink. He had such a “big heart”.
Harding was an active supporter in the Chinese community in Houston with the Chinese American Citizens Alliance and the On Leong Association. He enjoyed going out to eat, cooking, playing Mahjong, Grocery shopping and watching his favorite shows on TV. One of his favorite joys was to visit the grandkids and great grandkids. He was known for spoiling his sons and grandchildren. Thankfully he lived a healthy life up until about two months ago when his health began to waver
Dad, we miss and love you very much and know you are in a better place.
