

Han-Seob Kim, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, 20th of October, 2024 at his home in Houston, Texas. Han-Seob Kim was born on 5th of September, 1934 in Seoul, Korea. He was an unconditionally loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. In his professional life, he was highly respected as a physician, researcher, and teacher. He was kind and honest. His stoic pragmatism was balanced by his selflessness for his family.
Dr. Kim attended Seoul National University in South Korea, earning his M.D. in 1959 and Ph.D. in 1968. He married his wife, Jung Ja Kim, in 1963, and they were married for 48 years until her death in 2011. His two sons, Jai Up Kim and Jai Young Kim, were born in 1964 and 1968, respectively. His granddaughter, Journey Charlize Kim, was born in 2022.
He moved with his family from South Korea to the United States in 1969. Dr. Kim started his 41-year career with the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine/Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. He became an Associate Professor in 1972, a Professor in 1993, and a Professor Emeritus after his 2011 retirement. He had published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and five book chapters.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Hang-Tae Kim, father Young-Sun Kim, mother Soo-Yoon (Han) Kim, wife Jung Ja Kim, first son Jai Up Kim, and brother-in-law Keon Sik Kim.
He is survived by his older sister Ok-Kyum Kim, second son Jai Young Kim (Jennifer Dowd-Kim), granddaughter Journey Kim, nephew Jung Ki (Seon Hwa) Kim, niece Myung Hee (Kyu Chan) Kim, nephew Yong Sung Kim, and grand-nephews Albert Kim and Robert (Thao) Kim.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o'clock until four o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 3rd of November in the Parlor and Wine Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Friends are cordially invited to greet the family during a visitation at half past nine o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 4th of November in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the funeral service is to commence at half past ten o’clock. Following the service all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced.
