Gwendolyn Birdwell

Gwendolyn Birdwell was born December 18, 1939 in Houston, Texas. A true believer in Jesus Christ, she was baptized at an early age at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Gwendolyn was a graduate of Jack Yates High School. She went on to attend East Los Angeles Nursing School and also received certification as a computer specialist from Apers Computerized Learning Center. Gwendolyn later joined the Aldine Independent School District where she was a dedicated employee for many years. A precious saint in the eyes of the Lord, Gwendolyn was a faithful and active member of Fourth Missionary Baptist Church for over thirty years. When circumstances prevented her from being able to regularly attend, she united with Greenspoint Baptist Church. At the twilight of her life, upon relocating to Fort Bend County, Gwendolyn became a member of Crossing Point Christian Church in Arcola, Texas. She was married to Mr. Billy Birdwell for 44 years. To this union was born a son, Gary Birdwell. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Erva Brown and brother, Albert Brown. She is survived by her husband Billy and son Gary; aunts Dorothy Westmoreland and Pollie Hayes Brown; Uncle Wesley James; and a host of cherished family and friends. Services for Gwendolyn will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015, in the Garden of Hope Chapel of Paradise Funeral Home. The viewing will begin at 10:00am, following will be the Life Celebration beginning at 11:00am. Pastor Craig Hayes, Officiating. Interment: Houston Memorial Gardens
