Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, George Calvert Robinson. Gwen and George were married in 1955 in East Bank, West Virginia. George passed away in 2012 in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her four children, Margaret Pauline Robinson of Bastrop, Texas, and former husband James Chionis; George Caudill Robinson, and wife Susan, of Houston, Texas; Thomas Neil Robinson, and wife Carmen, of Roanoke, Texas; and James Calvert Robinson, and wife Diana, of Houston, Texas: Gwen is also survived by nine grandchildren: John Robinson Chionis, Michael James Chionis and wife Emily, Nicole Elaine Robinson Basilio-Araújo and husband Diego, George Matthew Robinson and girlfriend Stephanie Torres, Natalie Danielle Robinson, Thomas Nicholas Robinson, Daniel James Robinson, Sarah Elizabeth Robinson, and Alexander Neil Robinson and two great-grandchildren: Grady James Chionis and Alexia Elizabeth Chionis. Gwen will also be missed by our family caregiver of 17 years, Tammy Hernandez, and her family. We would be remiss not to mention Gwen’s trusted canine companions, Nano and Coco who brought great joy and comfort to her in later life.
Gwen was born on June 13, 1933, in Charleston, West Virginia to Pauline Neil and Cuvah Cecil (CC) Caudill. She grew up in East Bank, West Virginia, and graduated from East Bank High School in 1951.
Gwen later attended Marshall University and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1955. She worked as a homemaker for her young family, an office manager for Robinson Oil Company, a family business, and as a medical technologist for hospitals in New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana.
In retirement, she and George enjoyed rural living in Markelsville, Pennsylvania, and later living near their children and grandchildren in Houston, Texas.
Gwen was an avid quilter, seamstress, gardener, and enjoyed reading murder mysteries and historical fiction, cooking new recipes, and watching wild birds in her backyard.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at her home on February 12th, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gwen’s name to the American Heart Association or Citizens for Animal Protection.
Her interment is planned to take place alongside her husband at the Newport Cemetery in Perry County, Pennsylvania.
