I was with my father watching a movie as well. I remember that event like it was yesterday. He was a great husband and father. I will always remember him for his great personality. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the Rodriguez family on the passing of Gustavo. He was a lifelong friend and it was an honor and a privilege to have known him all these years. Luisa,so sorry for your loss. I remember all the times Gus provided catered luncheons to our faculty at Royalwood El. and Cravens ECA. He was so generous and caring.He was a man that if you had the priviledge to meet him once,you would not forget him. He had so much charisma and a heart as big as Texas!

Time will heal the pain and heartbreak and the void I now feel, but today I mourn the loss of Gustavo, an ex-brother-in-law, who truly was like a brother to me for over 30 years, and a devoted, loving and doting husband, father, son, uncle and godfather and a friend and relative to so many others, a wonderful teacher of life and love and how to enjoy them. Gus and I got into and out of trouble so many times over the years and God granted us the grace to live and laugh and about them with great fondness. I will treasure all those memories until it is my time to join up with him in heaven and see what havoc we can cause St. Peter and how he will handle it! My long-standing joke with Gus was that he looked for trouble just for the challenge of seeing if he could get out of it and he often dragged me along for the ride!
In the meantime, I will pray for his soul, that God grant him the eternal rest and glory promised the faithfully departed by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for the peace and tranquility of heart and mind for Maria Luisa, my dear sister, Gus, Jr. and William, my wonderful nephews, knowing that his journey is complete and he is surrounded by his family that preceded him and I pray for those of us he left behind to ensure and secure his legacy. I love you, my dear brother, Gus and I will miss you much. Rest in Peace!

Luisa , Gus and Will , I will always remember Gus and the great fun we had when we were young ,"cut ups". In particular a certain wedding where we wore lime green tuxes to the reception. Your dad was always a willing participant in my crazy schemes.He will be sorely missed. He was a good husband and a great father ,and what better legacy than that can we say about a man.

I was 11 years old when this wonderful man entered my life. He filled the void of a father and always treated me like a daughter. I put him on a pedestal and there he stayed for 30 years. I loved and respected him as a daughter would her own father. My uncle was a wonderful and caring man that never met a stranger he couldn't befriend. I will miss our talks and our jokes. Our hearts are broken and there will always be a missing piece. Save me a spot in the good seats, until we meet again.

I was saddened to hear of Gustavo's death.  I knew Gustavo when we worked together at Sam P. Wallace in Puerto Rico.  He was a happy soul and that's how I will always remember him.  My condolences to his wife, children and family.  May God Bless you and fill your hearts with peace.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Rodriguez personally, but I know that he raised a fine son who I am proud to call my friend. When I did visit with him briefly he always struck me as a man of calm and quiet demeanor with a good heart. We were saddened to hear about Gus, our hearts our broken for all of you!  May God comfort you and keep you in this time of need. I was so saddened to hear the news about Gus. He was always part of our family just like the way Aunt Helen and Uncle Al took me into their family. 

I will never forget the wonderful parties in P.R. at Helen and Al's house.  When I go over to my parents house I can still see Gus and Mario yelling and screaming at our dining room table when the Ace popped up during a heated game of Bourré. Those are some of my fondest memories of my childhood.

Our condolences to the Rodriguez family.  Our daughter met the family at Seaton when she was a classmate of their son, William. Mr. Rodriguez treated our daughter like one of the family, including her in many family outings. Driving the kids around Houston, attending quinceanera's, dances, and especially going to Shipley's on Ella for doughnuts.  Although, the kids have now moved on to college, they still remain friends. We are so very sorry for your loss. We knew Gustavo to be a devoted and loving husband and father. He treated our daughter as his own. Gustavo was a tremendously generous man,always quick with a laugh, and eager to make others comfortable. He and Luisa have raised two fine sons who will, no doubt, continue to make their parents proud.

We are so sorry and deeply saddened to hear of Gus's passing. His presence always enlivened the Seton Catholic Jr. High galas and dinners and meetings. Our lives are enriched for having known him. Our prayers are with Luisa, Gus, and William.

I don't know how to express the pain that I feel at the loss of my uncle Gus. He was our protector. I still have the gold ankle bracelet with my name engraved on it. He had it made when he found out that Nanny had given me my sister's medication because she couldn't tell us apart. I still have the super computer that his "buddy" built for me my sophomore year in college.  Because  "whichever school you decide on--you're going to need this."  He held me to such a high standard that the thought of disappointing him drove me to excel.  No one can ever compare to my uncle Gus.

We are so sad to hear of Gus' passing.  We have such great memories of the two trips we took together.  I will never forget his kindness, he was always so polite and he kept us laughing all the time.  And he was so well dressed, looking so sharp every day.  He has left a great legacy to his two boys.  You are so blessed to have had him as your dad.  We are praying for your entire family, we know you will miss him so.  Gus was such a unique and special person, Luisa, we love you and send our prayers your way.  He will be waiting in Heaven for you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gus 12 years ago and became very good friends with him. I called him "Tio" because I felt he was like an uncle to me and more. He always gave me advice and helped me anyway he could. Every place we went he knew everybody and everybody knew him. He always made everyone laugh and made sure everyone around him was happy. He touched everyone he met. Thank you Gus for everything you did for me and for being such a good friend. You will be missed.

I can still remember sitting on the sofa with my uncle and watching Star Trek episodes, I did not like all or care that much for the show itself, but just spending time with him was what made it special. This and many others similar memories are what I hold dear. You will missed, but not forgotten, I love you.

I met Gustavo 30 years ago. He waltzed into our lives with a smile on his face and my sister on his arm. Our lives were forever changed. I cannot believe that 30 years went by so quickly. He adored my sister, he loved his sons, he was a man of faith, a comedian, a confidant, a friend and a brother.  I have no words to describe the void that his passing has left in our lives.

While working for his lovely wife I was afforded the opportunity to meet this wonderfully generous man.  He was a joy to have in our lives.  He always made us smile and laugh.      Mary Louise, Gus and Will, our deepest condolences on the death of your husband and father. Gus was the "ultimate cousin", always wonderful parties plenty of food and drink. His laughter was unique and his home was always open to us (a bunch of cousins). He was ' the host with the most'. He was very generous, especially with us and the Ay ChiWaWa crew. He made our tacos famous all the way to Bryan College Station and that college that is up there.

I met Gus 13 years ago.  I had the pleasure of spending many wonderful times with him and his family.  His thoughtfulness went beyond all expectations.  He made my family and friends feel welcome beyond measure.  I smile when I think of all the funny times and hours of  "entertainment".  His love for others showed no limits.
