Greg was born in Houston, on May 4, 1965 to Barbara and Jerry Kelly. He spent his childhood in Houston where he attended Alief Elsik High School. There he was a member of the swim team and The National Honor Society. He graduated with honors in 1983.
In 1987, Greg earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from The University of Texas at Austin followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry.
After Greg earned his DDS, he began a successful career in dentistry and in 1995 he moved to Pampa and purchased a dental practice.
Greg was active in his community, church, and was a member of the Pampa Rotary Club and the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. Greg was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge. He was a member and past president of the Panhandle Dental Society, a member of and former delegate to the Texas Dental Association.
Greg loved to travel, visiting countries on almost every continent. He was a devoted Texas Ex and Longhorn season ticket holder since graduation. On any given game day you could find him in his seat long before kickoff at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium, Scholz Garten or the Alumni Center cheering on his beloved Longhorns.
Greg had a zest for life like no other and a heart the size of Texas. He deeply loved his family, his friends, and his patients. Greg could be counted on to bring a laugh or smile with his quick wit and keen sense of humor. We will forever miss his fun-loving spirit, knowing smile, endless generosity, and profound compassion.
He is survived by his loving mother Barbara Todd Sargent of Georgetown, TX, his father Jerry Dale Kelly and wife Dianna Kelly of Ft. Smith, AR.; his sister, Cynthia Kelly Hopkins and husband Brian Decker of Georgetown, TX.; his niece Alexis Hopkins and nephew Cameron Hopkins of Georgetown, TX., his adult children Harper, Scott, Samantha and his wife Stephanie of Pampa, TX. Greg will be forever remembered by his numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and dear friends.
A funeral service in memory of Greg will held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 11:00AM. The service will be at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Houston, 1311 Holman Street, Houston, TX. Reverend Evan S. McClanahan officiating.
