Gloria Gibson Hart, born on September 23, 1936, in Houston, Texas, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2023, in Whitehouse, Tennessee. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her seven children with John Power Jr (deceased). They are Robert Power and daughter-in-law Connie Power from Houston, TX, Colleen Walters and son-in-law David Walters from Irving, TX, Richard Power and daughter-in-law Karen Power from Pensacola, FL, Paul Power from Wilmington, NC, Annette Haw and son-in-law Kevin Haw from Portland, TN, Jerry Power and daughter-in-law Lupita Power from Houston, TX, and James Power from Pensacola, FL. Gloria was also blessed with 15 grandchildren: Brittany Power Sepulvado, Justin Power, Brandon Power, Chelsea Walters Reed, Wesley Walters, Rachel Walters, Richard Power, Sarah Power, Emily Power, Gregory Power, Kelly Haw Uldrich, H. Colleen Haw, Jonathan Power, Jordan Power, Joshua Power, 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving sister Patricia Huebner.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray Hart, her parents Patrick and Ethel Gibson, and her brothers John, William, and James Gibson.
Gloria was a woman of unwavering faith and was deeply devoted to the Lord. She found solace and strength in her faith throughout her life. Gloria's dedication to her family was evident in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her role in nurturing and guiding her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gloria had a fulfilling career, working at various organizations throughout her life. She made valuable contributions during her time at Southern Pacific Railroad, Better Business Bureau, Image Bank, and Vision Life Ministries. Additionally, she managed her husband’s oil & gas business and after retirement was a substitute teacher. Her work ethic and passion left a lasting impact on those she encountered, and her contributions will be remembered with admiration.
A private family service will be held at Wilkerson & Wiseman Funeral Home in Portland, TN before flying home to Houston TX for an additional visitation and public service at Heights Funeral Home in Houston, TX, in honor of Gloria's life. The final farewell will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston, TX, where Gloria will be laid to rest.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew her.
John 14:2-3 reads, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” We find peace knowing our Mother is dancing with Jesus in one of these mansions, and we look forward to joining her in one of these mansions in the future.
