Gloria G Bonilla

Gloria Galindo Bonilla went to see our Lord Jesus Christ peacefully on Saturday the 22nd of January at the age of 95. Mrs. Bonilla is survived by her daughter Patricia B. Puente and husband Joe; daughter-in-law Mary Aguirre; Octavio Galindo and wife Sherlene; Emidio Galindo and wife Lucy; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother Pilar J. Ochoa and father Marcos Galindo; Sons Joseph and Robert Aguirre; brothers Albert, Luis, and Raymond Galindo.

Gloria Bonilla was born on the 17th of March 1926 in Marfa, Texas. As a young woman she moved to Houston and became a cosmetologist. She soon realized that her true passion was in serving people. She attended the University of Houston and earned her degree in sociology. Gloria took a position working with the University of Texas as a Nutritionist where she was able to instruct those on a small budget on how to prepare nutritious meals for their families. She then put her talents to work by accepting a position with United Way – Ripley House. In her new role she continued her service by coordinating programs to aid underprivilege children, senior citizens, and improving the surrounding community by assisting them through meeting their needs. When she was not working, she was devoted to her Catholic faith and volunteered countless hours to help raise money thru selling breakfasts on Sunday and coordinating garage sales, counting the weekly offerings, and assisting the Priest with day-to-day issues. Gloria had a big heart that was full of compassion and lived a life of service. She will be missed greatly.

All funeral arrangements will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, Texas 77065, on the 2nd of February 2022. A short viewing will start at 10:30-10:50 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:50 and a Mass to start at 11:30. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Park Westheimer, 12800 Westheimer.
