Born in Houston on the 4th of March 1948, she was the eldest daughter of Trinidad Sr. and Eva Salazar.
Gloria attended Kashmere Gardens Elementary, McReynolds Jr. High and graduated from Davis High School in 1967. She went to work at Texas Commerce Bank – now known as Chase – her first and only employer. Professionally, Gloria’s 43-year banking career started in the credit department as part of an administrative support pool, she went on to become executive assistant to the bank’s CEO and eventually became a commercial loan officer. She retired from Chase in 2009. Gloria was an active member of Faith Church for over 20 years.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Israel Aguilar; parents, Trinidad Sr. and Eva Salazar; brother, David Salazar; and sister, Evangeline Romano.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Benningfield and her husband Keith; and grandchildren, Ava Grace and Brock Israel Benningfield. Gloria is also survived by her brother, Trinidad Salazar Jr. and his wife Maggie; sisters, Yolanda Menchaca, Naomi Garcia and her husband Michael, Debbie Martelli and her husband, John, and Dahlia Salazar; and her brother-in-law, Anthony Romano; as well as many nieces and nephews, Godchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 17th of February, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday the 18th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Dr. Nathan Rouse, Lead Pastor at Faith Church, will officiate.
The interment will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, in Houston.
