I remember 2 Glen's. The cool uncle figure who cheered me on from the sidelines of my feral youth. Always kind. Always with a smile and a dad joke. And I remember the person that my grandmother (Glen's big sister) described to me my whole life. She loved him, idolized him, and was always quick to celebrate him. That Glen is larger than life, deeply loved by his family, and forever at the head of the pack. I'd like to think that they will finally be able to settle into a couple of lawn chairs now, open a cheap beer and just talk about how great the water looks for fishing. 

Papa was a man who was fiercely intelligence, curious, and reserved. He spent much time tolerating, teaching, and loving this little red headed kid that spent his time asking questions about things, breaking his computer, eating his candy. 
I'm a person who has been molded by his interests, humour, and peculiarities throughout my 38 years.
He introduced me to Stephen King and Star Wars. He had me sit through all Star Trek movies and we both agreed that The Voyage Home is really good but the Wrath of Khan is great.
He taught me that if a project turns afoul you hurl obscenities at it until it bends to your will (and if that doesn't work, screw it and go get a drink.)
He taught me that just because you aren't winning at a computer game you don't give up. You open your save file up in a hex editor, look for what you need to change in decimal, convert it to hexadecimal, replace the value with something higher (of course I always went with the FF) and you reload your game and give them hell. It ain't cheating if you are outsmarting the system.
He showed me that the best hard drink to have is a simple bourbon and coke to which he would allow me to sip on his "funny tasting" coke when I was younger.
I learned that the best way to be creatively intelligent is to doodle nonstop until you end up with something sensible and correct.
He taught me that the mornings are best spent out on a pier, boat, or someplace calm with a hot cup of coffee (unless it was the day to go back home and in that case get the car loaded and started before everyone finished breakfast.
He showed me how to laugh at the absurdities in politics, religion, and life in general.
Most importantly he let me be his sidekick and imparted so much on me.
So while he's gone, he lives on through his family since we all have a bit of Papa inside of us.

My first vivid memory is my uncle bursting out the front porch door with his T shirt over his head,arms high in the air to pounce on me pretend to cut my head off and tell me if I moved it would roll away. But that same afternoon he got permission to drive to the local grocery store To buy me my first Reese’s Peanutbutter  Cup. He was the cool guy who introduced me to a life long love of Fats Domino. My leverlasting wish was that I could be half the fisherman he was ! All my love to the Jacob s clan !!

All my love to my Uncle Glenn and to our family. Rest in Peace Uncle Glenn. Please tell all of our family in Heaven that I love them. Someday we will all be together again. ❤️

Hello Jacobs family.  Ken Boswell reached out to me and let me know Uncle Glenn left his body last Monday.   This virus is horrible.   Timing is everything.  I had just heard from Aunt Rosie in January and I was so happy to hear her voice.  Your family has always been so welcoming and loving.  Y'all are like a big warm hug.  I am sending love and prayers to you in this transition.  Dads are our anchors.
