Glenda Jones, 66- years-old, passed away early morning of March 18, 2022, in the Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, TX. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 10:30am at Garden Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory, 13430 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77083.
Glenda was born in Abilene, TX March 23, 1955, to Jessie Banks and Ernestine Calloway. She attended Abilene High School and Hardin Simmons University. She graduated as valedictorian of Paralegal school and retired after 20+ years working as a Senior Litigation Paralegal.
Glenda married her oldest daughter’s father, Wayne Williams in 1974. Her life changed when she married Clifton Jones August 19, 1978, and moved to Germany. Europe was another world to her and became one of her favorite places.
Glenda was a very proud beautiful queen inside and out. A very strong, persistent, and talkative jewel, with lots of humor and laughter. She was a God-fearing virtuous woman who strived to win lost souls for Christ. She loved hard but loved God even harder. She started her Christian walk as a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Abilene, TX, and served at Acts Full Gospel Church in Oakland, CA in her later years. During her time there, she served as a captain for the witnessing team. She became department head of the Apollos Ministry, a follow-up ministry that waters the seeds in new babes in Christ. She worked in the education department of the youth ministry, and she served as a proud board member at Acts Full Gospel Church. Glenda lived by God's guidance. When He told her to move to a new city, and go to a new job, she entered the place and asked God, "Okay Lord, I am your vessel, who am I here for?" Glenda left a huge impression on people; so much that they gravitated to her for counsel, love and friendship. It didn't matter if she was in a grocery store, the post office, in a fast-food drive thru, or even stopped by a homeless person asking for money, she would not end a conversation without saying, "Do you know that Jesus Christ is Lord, and he loves you?" Romans 10:9 says If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." She loved saving souls, no matter how long it took. One of the family favorites was when she won the soul of her employer. It was a great testimony, because she had him, an established unhappy attorney, see his Godly worth and receive the Lord Jesus.
Glenda is survived by her two daughters, Maya Williams and Kimiko Jones-Meekins, her son-in-law Cornet Meekins, God-Son Jacobie Calloway, and siblings Drucilla Christian, Paula Boyce, Linda Winters, Elaine Eddie, brother-in-law Leonard Eddie, George Calloway, sister-in-law Vickie Calloway, brother-in-law Connie Jones, brother-in-law Donald Jones, sister-in-law Naomi Banks, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother Ernestine Calloway, her father-in-law Cornnie Jones, her grandmother Everlee Calloway, her brother Jessie Banks Jr, her father Jessie Banks, her mother-in-law Esther Ward, and her husband Clifton Jones.
