GLADYS MARIE LUX TURNEY, age 77, our devoted mother, Grammy, and friend passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Gladys was born January 26, 1943 on a farm in Schulenberg, TX. She was raised in Lake Jackson and graduated from Brazosport High School. In 1962, she married the love of her life George H. Turney and they settled in Houston. She enjoyed being a part the Garden Club of Hidden Valley, and playing bridge and canasta with the ladies in the neighborhood. Gladys was an active member of St Rose of Lima serving many ministries including; lector, RCIA, Eucharistic minister, bible studies, Vocations Director, attending Marriage Encounter Weekends and serving on team and director of ACTS. In addition, she was a member of the Catholic Women’s Charity Guild. She worked at St. Thomas High School for 20 years as administrative assistant. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, gambling, and holding her infamous garage sales. Gladys is survived by her loving family: son Scott & Natalie Turney; daughter Renee & Reggie Henderson; daughter Michelle & Brian Fishbeck; six grandchildren: Sean & wife Kelsey Fiorella, Nicole Turney, Sarah & husband Nathan Herzog, Andy Fiorella, and Kirsten & Blake Fishbeck; and two great grandchildren: Teagan & Ansen Fiorella. She is also survived by sister Margie & husband Marty Dobbins; sister-in-law Joan & Tom Ainsworth; brother-in-law Ronnie Lankford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Victor & Gertrude Lux; and sister-in-law Shelia Lankford. Donations may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or Catholic Charities. The family will gather for visitation Monday, October 26, 2020, 5p.m. – 8p.m. at the Heights Funeral Home with a rosary at 7p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman, Houston, Texas 77018. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
