Gilberto Perez Cavazos, age 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born in Hidalgo Country, Texas on June 21, 1942 to parents Pablo Luera Cavazos and Dina Perez Cavazos. He met his beloved wife Ama Butler in Houston, Texas and married on July 14, 2000. Gilberto worked as a supervisor at Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company for over 35 years. Gilberto retired from Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company on April 2005. After retirement, he and his wife Ama began their bucket list traveling all over the United States. If he was not traveling, he was enjoying his time drinking Miller Lite with his family & bar-b-queing.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Ama Cavazos; parents Pablo and Dina Cavazos.
Gilberto is survived by his sons Gilbert M. Cavazos (Nikki), Kenneth S. Cavazos, and Phillips B. Cavazos; daughter Yvonne M. Alvarado (Paul); grandchildren Alfonso Maciel, Evelyn Maciel, Elias Vega III, Joshua Vega, Evangelina Alvarado, Griselda Alvarado, Laila Alvarado, April Cavazos, Karen Motilla, Johnathan Motilla, James Cavazos, Daisja Cavazos, Noah Cavazos, and Natalie Cavazos; seven great grandchildren Aiden, Jax, Ethan, Jaden, Evan, Melody, and King. Brothers: Freddy Cavazos (Elena) and Pablo Cavazos Jr. (Irma) and Sisters: Oraila Rodriguez and Elia Gonzalez.
Gilberto will be sorely missed and will live in our hearts forever.
Serving as pallbearers are Gilbert M. Cavazos, Paul Alvarado, Elias Vega III, Joshua Vega, Pablo Cavazos Jr., Alan Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers are Ethan Vega, Jaden Vega.
A visitation for Gilberto will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary scheduled to begin promptly at 6:30 pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM, in the Grand Chapel at Brookside, followed by burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
