Gilbert Meza, 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on March 19, 2024. Born on December 8, 1950, in Houston, Texas, Gilbert was the cherished son of Isidoro and Nancy Meza.
Gilbert lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, known for his generosity, kind heart and zest for life. Gilbert found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from fishing trips to family barbecues, and his love for golfing, sports, and running track knew no bounds. He was also an active member of a softball league, where he shared many memorable moments with family and friends.
One of Gilbert's greatest passions was traveling, and he cherished every opportunity to explore new places, from Galveston to Florida and beyond. His adventurous spirit and love for discovery inspired all who knew him.
Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Gonzalez Meza, his adoring mother, Nancy Meza, his devoted children, Gilbert Meza Jr. (Amber), Adam Meza (Veronica), and Monica Meza, and his cherished grandchildren, Ailena, Maggie, Rey, Yasmine, Aiden, Thalia, Analise, and Luke Meza. He is also survived by his brothers, Isidor Meza Jr. (Helen), Louis Meza (Linda), Danny Meza (Monet), Alfred Meza, and Roy Meza (Pat), and his sisters, Eloise Meza, Gloria Meza, and Rose Samaniego, along with numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Isidoro Meza Sr., brother in law Joseph Samaniego Jr. and niece Crystal Renee Meza.
A visitation to honor Gilbert's memory will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo Broadway, 4136 Broadway, Houston, Texas 77087. A funeral service will follow from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same location. Gilbert will be laid to rest at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.
Gilbert will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the cherished memories and hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
