Dear Gertie:  Just saw that you passed a year ago.  My wife, Karen, always spoke so highly of you and considered you a dear friend (as did I).  You survived her -- Karen passed in July, 2021, and I was so pleased & grateful that you were able to attend her memorial service.  My children, Chris, Jenny, and Amanda remember you fondly as well.  You were always so kind and giving to others while maintaining your dignity and sense of self.  You will be sorely missed.  God rest your soul.

My prayers are with your family as ya'll go through this hard time.  I remember so many Sunday's working in the kitchen at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church with your mom.  She was so funny, and she made sure the ministers had their food set aside before anyone else.  I loved listening to her stories, and her laugh. Grandma I will never forget it was my first time going to our family reunion on your side of the family. We were at your cousin house off of mlk street and getting ready to go to dinner and u was singing Lauren hill U knew all the words that was my first time in my adult life actually hanging out with u and we had a blast!
