On March 2, 2020 Gerald “Jerry” William Ford was called home by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He was born on July 25, 1939 to Charlie William and Jean (Smythe) Ford. He was raised by his father and stepmother Francis (Sullivan) Ford. Jerry graduated from Midland High School in 1957. On January 17, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Sandra Diane Galloway. They went on to have two children Julee and Layne. Jerry and Sandra had lifelong friends that were made in the 1940’s that are like family to them. They are Tommy McElligott, Don Hammack, Jessie Cobb, Harlan Roberts, Jeff Rawls, and Norman Booth.
Jerry spent many years in the HVAC industry working for Schaffer Mechanical and Atlas Air Conditioning. They were very gracious to him during his years of employment as well as after his retirement, which made him very proud to have worked for their companies all those years. He respected and admired both families for their work ethic and devotion to their employees. They were not only his employers they were his friends. The highlight of his life was watching his children and grandchildren grow up to be successful young men and women. Jerry enjoyed being involved in the lives of his children and especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Sandra, daughter Julee Ford Hendrix of Dallas, son Layne Ford and his wife Ann of Houston. His grandchildren, Christopher Hendrix, Bridgette Hendrix Camanda and her husband Julian, Nicholas William Ford, and Brandon Layne Ford.
